Sympathy

I posted this a few days ago and just realized now after looking at my blog it's not there. Hmm. I don't know, technology confuses me sometimes. So here we go again ...

Sympathy cards are another one I struggle with along with masculine cards. I don't particularly enjoy making them (I mean who really does), but it's a reality that you need them every now and then. A few days ago my grandfather asked me to make one for him for a friend of the family, and this is what I came up with ...

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Fabulous Florets, Petite Pairs
Ink: Soft Suede, Versa Mark
Paper: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Victoria Crochet Trim, Tulip Frame Embossing Folder

For the stem to get the look of the darker and lighter I first stamped the middle stem in soft suede, I then reinked the stamp and stamped off on scrap paper twice before stamping the second stem and then repeated with the third stem.

The new ink pads are so nice for vibrant solid colour. If you do want a lighter more pastel look though you just have to stamp off once or twice on scrap paper first. The Stampin' Up! gird paper is awesome for this and even has lines and measurements on it too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Masculine Monday Week 2

Here we are again. Only the second week of masculine Monday and I am struggling. I was going to make something last night but just wasn't feeling it, so it had to wait until nap time today. I used this week's Mojo Monday Sketch to help me out!

This is what I came up with:

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps: Priority Mail (hostess set)
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Paper: Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, First Edition Specialty DSP, Parker's Patterns DSP*
Accessories: Honeycomb Embossing Folder*, Pinwheel Sizzlit*, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon, Small Brad, Curly Label Punch, Itty Bitty Banners Framelits, Adorning Accents Edgelits

*Spring Catalogue

I am still totally in love with these super cute little pinwheels. A very affordable buy out of the new spring catalogue if you own a Big Shot!

I made the banners using the Itty Bitty Banners framelits. Super quick and easy and that way you know they will all be the same size!

Happy Stamping,

Oh, Hello

Happy Friday Friends! I am so ready for the weekend! My hubby and I have a date night planned for tomorrow night, dinner and a movie! We haven't been to a movie since  I was pregnant and I honestly don't think we have been out to dinner (without Gabe that is) since I was pregnant either, so this girl is excited! Any suggestions on good movies, I'd love to hear, we can't decide! onto today/s card ...

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps: Oh, Hello

Sycamore Street

Yesterday evening I had a great get together with my Upline, Carolyn, and some of the girls! We talked all things Stampin' Up!Four of the girls on Carolyn's team (including herself) were lucky enough to make it to Leadership, and since I was unable to attend they were kind enough to share everything they learned with me (thank-you)! If you want to meet some great people and learn more about Stampin' Up! consider joining my team (sale-a-bration is an especially good time to sign up, lots of extra goodies), ask me how!

Anyways...On to some more exciting things...A card!

I just love the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper you can get FREE during Sale-a-Bration! It's great colours and fun designs make it super bright and cheery!

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps: Pretty Petites*

Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party, Whisper White, Sycamore Street DSP*
Accessories: Curly Label Punch, Petite Curly Label Punch*, Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack*, Baker's Twine

*Sale-a-Bration

I apologize for the poor photo quality. I couldn't get the lighting quite right for some reason, and it was late so I had no sunshine to work with either. I will try to smarten up!

It is 6am and I am up at this awful hour after taking my sister to work, so I am off now to enjoy another cup of coffee while it is quiet and wait for my bundle of fun to wake up. Hmm maybe this waking up early thing has some benefits ...

Busy Busy More Valentine's Day

Valentine's has always been a fairly big deal in my house, in some ways that is. My mom owns a Floral and Gift Shop, Blooms 'n Things . So needless to say she is crazy busy on Valentine's Day. It usually turns into a family affair, with my dad or my husband doing deliveries and my sister or my brother or I working in the store helping out. It's usually organized chaos because it is one day instead of being a little spread out like Christmas or Mother's Day.

So since it is so busy I have been preparing plenty of cards early so I can drop them off for those men to pick up last minute! I certainly hope they enjoy them. I mean who wouldn'y love a beautiful hand made card for Valentine's Day instead of a generic mass produced one? I know I would!

If I remember I will take plenty of pictures of the shop on Valentine's Day. It's always so beautiful, roses, carnations, daisies, pink, red, white, green, yellow, purple, you name it! It smells wonderful too of course!

Anyways enough of my rambling and onto the card!

Masculine Mondays

If you have been reading my blog for a while now (thank-you thank-you thank-you if you have) you will know that I struggle with masculine cards! There are so many pretty, girly papers, and I really am the girly type (pink and frills and glitter are my weaknesses). Stampin' Up! has tons of masculine products and papers available too, so there is no excuse for not making cards for the men in your life also.

I decided to start a new feature called "Masculine Mondays" to give myself a little push to come up with more masculine projects! My Sister-in-Law's boyfriend has a birthday coming up on Friday so what better way to start!

The new DSP, Parker's Patterns, from the Spring Catalogue screams masculinity to me! So away to work I went!

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps: Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Midnight Muse
Paper: Midnight Muse, Whisper White, Parker's Patterns DSP*
Accessories: Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Pinwheel Sizlit, Banners Framelits, Silver Brad, Square Punch

*Spring Catalogue

What did I use the square punch for you ask? Well, here's a little tip to make banners out of your paper that have nice even ends.

Step 1: Take you piece of paper you would like to make into a banner to insert it diagonally into your square punch (I am using the old style here but the new ones works the same way) so it looks like this...
 Step 2: Punch!

And there you have it a nice banner end the looks like this...

Voila! Hope you enjoyed my very first Masculine Monday!

If you have any Masculine Monday project ideas for me, or would like to share your projects with a bit of "masculinity" to them, please do so! I would love to see them!

Happy Stamping,
Elizabeth Emma

Pinwheel Fun!

I almost forgot about my new pinwheel die! It's so tiny and small it got lost amongst all my other things in my order, so glad I found it! I've been playing around with it and having so much fun. I will admit at first I found it a little fiddly and hard to maneuver, but now I'm pro! So don't worry, if I can do it, you can totally do it. And it is waaaaay easier to run a die through your Big Shot to make Pinwheels than it is to measure and cut and do it on your own, who has time for that? Not me, that's for sure, I got a busy 6 month old on my hands!

Stampin' Supplies
Stamp Sets: Vintage Verses**
Ink: Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango
Paper: Sycamore Street DSP**, Tangerine Tango, Island Indigo, Pool Party, Whisper White
Accessories: Small Silver Brad, Pinwheel Die*, Labels Framelits, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Adorning Accents Edgelits

*Spring Catalogue
**Sale-a-Bration
Instead of ink pads for the sentiment I used the Stampin' Write markers. Just flip the stamp over and colour each part with the colour you want then "huff" (a.k.a. breathe hot air over the stamp to warm up the colours again) and stamp!

Tea for Two Just Because

Today's card is super simple! No Big Shot required (which is rare for me, but hey I figure, I spent the money in it I might as well use it, and I do, for just about everything)! I got the idea off Pinterest of course (do I get ideas anywhere else these days..). Here is the inspiration I found for this card. I changed the paper and some of the materials and voila....

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps: Vintage Verses**

Paper: Early Espresso, So Saffron, Tea for Two DSP
Accessories: Fancy Label Punch, Postage Stamp Punch, Delicate Details Lace Tape*

Dude, Check it Out!

Just when you think Stampin' Up! has thought of everything this year (monthly project kits, exclusive anniversary stamp sets, new single stamps) they come up with something else! Introducing the "Dude, You're Welcome" kit. A stamp kit just for guys!

As a guy, it’s not always easy to express yourself. You know you want to say it, but you just don’t know how. That’s why we’ve created the Dude, You’re Welcome! Kit. Quickly build a card that says just what you want it to say, whether it’s “#%&@!” because you messed up (when does that happen?), for a Special Occasion (you know the occasion), “I _____ You” (love, adore, miss, see?), or a simple “Thank You.”

We’ve got your back. Dude, you’re welcome.

Kit includes:

* Four wood-mount stamps (double-mounted) with the perfect sentiment for every occasion
* Twelve 4" x 6" postcards in four different (manly) colors
* Twelve gray envelopes
* A Basic Gray Classic Stampin’ Pad
* An instructional guide (for the most novice stamper!)

All for the price of $30.95

Basically, the kit includes everything a dude needs to create the perfect manly card that any woman would adore, all packaged in an appropriately masculine box. Ladies this doesn't mean you can't buy it also! Or send you husbands in my way and I will point them to it!

Here's a little instructional video to show you what you're looking at! Just when you thought that they've thought of everything!

Happy (manly) Stamping,
Elizabeth Emma

25 Years of Stampin' Up!

Stampin' Up! has been in business for 25 years this year! Wow (pause for a rendition of "Happy Anniversary")! Congrats! Because of their silver anniversary, Stampin' Up! will be celebrating all year long! Stay tuned for many of the wonderful celebrations.

As part of Stampin' Up!'s 25-year anniversary celebration, they’re bringing back some of their favorite stamp images from the last quarter century and combining them into 12 sets, which will release—one set per month—during 2013. Even better, along with some great classic images, each “Best of” set will also include a never-before-seen image!

Some things to Know:
  • All Best of stamp sets will include 3-5 images, including a never-before seen image, and will be priced at $17.95
  • While we are releasing just one Best of stamp set per month (with a new theme each month), all of the Best of sets will be available until March 31, 2014.
  • A new flyer will be released every month for each new Best of set.
  • All Best of stamp sets are available in Clear-Mount only.
The theme for this month is "Best of Birthdays". Click to see the flyer.

More Single Stamps!!

You wanted more? You got more! Stampin' Up! had such a great response so far to the experiment with single stamps that they are making ten more never-before-seen images available as single stamps through March 31st, 2013.

As always there are a few things to remember:
  • Single stamps won't be sent in typical cases or packaging; they'll be packaged in cello bags. If you would like a case for your stamp,, you can buy the clear-mount stamp cases that comes in packs of four (item 119105)
  • This offer is available for clear-mount stamps only.
  • The stamps won’t come with a Clear-Mount Block, and you’ll need to buy a block separately if you don’t already have one. The recommended block sizes can be found on the flyer.
  • There’s no limit on how many pieces you can buy.
  • These stamps are only available through March 31, 2013, so get them while you can!
Now onto the good stuff! Here are the flyers for the new stamps!

Even More Hearts a Flutter ...

Here's another Hearts a Flutter card. I just can't help it, I love the set! I promise I will try to post some cards using other stamp sets real soon. I got the idea for this card from Mary Fish over at Stampin' Pretty. She always has great card designs! Usually simple but always stunning!

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps:
Hearts a Flutter, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Real Red, Basic Black, Pool Party
Paper: Whisper White
Accessories: Hearts a Flutter Framelits, Bitty Banners Framelits, Hemp Twine, Ribbon and Button pack (sale-a-bration)

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend! The hubby and I are off to look at carseats for my growing boy! Next size up, I can hardly believe it! He is no where near the weight limit on his seat, but he only have 1.5 inches before he is too long for it. I think he will be more comfortable in the larger one too. Although not looking forward to not having the infant carrier to tote him around in everywhere. I predict a lot of baby wearing in our future!

Home Management Binder

I am finally getting into using MDS2 more and more! It's one of my New Years resolutions to start taking advantage of it more. Since I bought it it's sort of been a program I installed and forgot about. Well no longer!

I use a home management binder to keep tabs on everything going on in our little family. We may be small but it still always seems like we are busy busy busy! The binder includes things like important phone numbers, schedules, calendars, finances and budgeting, grocery lists, meal planning, and the list goes on and on.

I always had an ugly hand written cover on it. Then the idea occurred to me, My Digital Studio, Duh! So here it is, I made a quick and smile cover for the binder and now it is so much prettier!

I used the Domestic Goddess DSP and made the font colours to match. What do ya think? Thanks for stopping by!

Perfect Day

I hope by now you have all had a chance to take a look at the spring catalogue. It is full of so many cute and wonderful things, this card uses just a few of my favourites. I am in love with the tea for two designer series paper (and the fabric too). The flower trim is also beautiful.

Stamps: Vintage Verses**
Ink: Island Indigo
Paper: So Saffron, Whisper White, Tea for Two DSP*
Accessories: 5/8" Flower Trim, Doilies, Labels Framelits

I hope you enjoy this card. I had fun making it. Stepped out of my comfort zone and made a square card for a change. I always worry about envelope size, but figured I would use my Simply Scored to make a pretty envelope to go along with it.

Sale-a-Bration Fun

Isn't this card cute? I used a bunch of products from the upcoming sale-a-bration catalogue! I really like how it turned out.

Here is a close up of the ribbon and button and super cute stamps and designer series paper. There is also a great new embossing folder that you can earn during sale-a-bration but I am still waiting for mine to arrive, I'll share it with you when it comes.

Happy Half Birthday!

6 months old?! Oh. My. Goodness! Time sure flies. I cannot believe my baby boy is 6 months old already! I am so excited to see where he goes, how he grows, and what life brings him, but I am also a little sad. I cry a little each time I put clothes away that no longer fit him. Sap. Anyways, I'll quit talking, onto the photos...

hehe I love this look. He does it a lot lately. This is a giant frog Gabe got from his great grandma for Christmas. It's bigger than he is.

As close as I got to a smile, please excuse my slippers.

At 6 Months Old Gabriel:
  • weighs 14 lbs (no height as he has not had his 6 month appointment yet, only weight by fluke)
  • Is sitting up on his own for longer periods of time
  • Is teething like a mad man! Drooling, rosy red cheeks, the whole deal, but no teeth as of yet
  • Is eating like a champ. We now have two meals a day. Cereal and a fruit or Veggie. He loves bananas in those mesh feeders and baby mum-mums
  • Is more talkative and integrative everyday! Such a ham!
  • Is a huge flirt!!
And of course I couldn't resist sharing some photos from Gabriel's first Christmas.

Family Photo

Fell asleep Christmas Eve and we had no where else to put him (at my aunt's house) so he slept in a box. It was great until he woke up and no one was around and he was in a box in a strange room. I think he was slightly traumatized when my uncle brought him out haha. Poor wee man.

Presents Christmas morning. Gabe's tower of Tupperware buckets, love these things!

Mommy and Daddy's favourite gift of all <3

God really has blessed me with an amazing family. Thanks for letting me share him with you.

Happy Stamping,
Elizabeth Emma
