Sympathy

I posted this a few days ago and just realized now after looking at my blog it's not there. Hmm. I don't know, technology confuses me sometimes. So here we go again ...

Sympathy cards are another one I struggle with along with masculine cards. I don't particularly enjoy making them (I mean who really does), but it's a reality that you need them every now and then. A few days ago my grandfather asked me to make one for him for a friend of the family, and this is what I came up with ...

Stampin' Supplies:
Stamps: Fabulous Florets, Petite Pairs
Ink: Soft Suede, Versa Mark
Paper: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Victoria Crochet Trim, Tulip Frame Embossing Folder

For the stem to get the look of the darker and lighter I first stamped the middle stem in soft suede, I then reinked the stamp and stamped off on scrap paper twice before stamping the second stem and then repeated with the third stem.

The new ink pads are so nice for vibrant solid colour. If you do want a lighter more pastel look though you just have to stamp off once or twice on scrap paper first. The Stampin' Up! gird paper is awesome for this and even has lines and measurements on it too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Masculine Monday Week 2

Here we are again. Only the second week of masculine Monday and I am struggling. I was going to make something last night but just wasn't feeling it, so it had to wait until nap time today. I used this week's Mojo Monday Sketch to help me out!

This is what I came up with:

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps: Priority Mail (hostess set)
Ink: Not Quite Navy
Paper: Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla, First Edition Specialty DSP, Parker's Patterns DSP*
Accessories: Honeycomb Embossing Folder*, Pinwheel Sizzlit*, Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon, Small Brad, Curly Label Punch, Itty Bitty Banners Framelits, Adorning Accents Edgelits

*Spring Catalogue

I am still totally in love with these super cute little pinwheels. A very affordable buy out of the new spring catalogue if you own a Big Shot!

I made the banners using the Itty Bitty Banners framelits. Super quick and easy and that way you know they will all be the same size!

Happy Friday Friends! I am so ready for the weekend! My hubby and I have a date night planned for tomorrow night, dinner and a movie! We haven't been to a movie since  I was pregnant and I honestly don't think we have been out to dinner (without Gabe that is) since I was pregnant either, so this girl is excited! Any suggestions on good movies, I'd love to hear, we can't decide! onto today/s card ...

Sycamore Street

Yesterday evening I had a great get together with my Upline, Carolyn, and some of the girls! We talked all things Stampin' Up!Four of the girls on Carolyn's team (including herself) were lucky enough to make it to Leadership, and since I was unable to attend they were kind enough to share everything they learned with me (thank-you)! If you want to meet some great people and learn more about Stampin' Up! consider joining my team (sale-a-bration is an especially good time to sign up, lots of extra goodies), ask me how!

Anyways...On to some more exciting things...A card!

I just love the Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper you can get FREE during Sale-a-Bration! It's great colours and fun designs make it super bright and cheery!

I apologize for the poor photo quality. I couldn't get the lighting quite right for some reason, and it was late so I had no sunshine to work with either. I will try to smarten up!

It is 6am and I am up at this awful hour after taking my sister to work, so I am off now to enjoy another cup of coffee while it is quiet and wait for my bundle of fun to wake up. Hmm maybe this waking up early thing has some benefits ...

Busy Busy More Valentine's Day

Valentine's has always been a fairly big deal in my house, in some ways that is. My mom owns a Floral and Gift Shop, Blooms 'n Things . So needless to say she is crazy busy on Valentine's Day. It usually turns into a family affair, with my dad or my husband doing deliveries and my sister or my brother or I working in the store helping out. It's usually organized chaos because it is one day instead of being a little spread out like Christmas or Mother's Day.

So since it is so busy I have been preparing plenty of cards early so I can drop them off for those men to pick up last minute! I certainly hope they enjoy them. I mean who wouldn'y love a beautiful hand made card for Valentine's Day instead of a generic mass produced one? I know I would!

If I remember I will take plenty of pictures of the shop on Valentine's Day. It's always so beautiful, roses, carnations, daisies, pink, red, white, green, yellow, purple, you name it! It smells wonderful too of course!

Anyways enough of my rambling and onto the card!

Masculine Mondays

If you have been reading my blog for a while now (thank-you thank-you thank-you if you have) you will know that I struggle with masculine cards! There are so many pretty, girly papers, and I really am the girly type (pink and frills and glitter are my weaknesses). Stampin' Up! has tons of masculine products and papers available too, so there is no excuse for not making cards for the men in your life also.

I decided to start a new feature called "Masculine Mondays" to give myself a little push to come up with more masculine projects! My Sister-in-Law's boyfriend has a birthday coming up on Friday so what better way to start!

The new DSP, Parker's Patterns, from the Spring Catalogue screams masculinity to me! So away to work I went!

Stampin' Supplies
Stamps: Itty Bitty Banners
Ink: Midnight Muse
Paper: Midnight Muse, Whisper White, Parker's Patterns DSP*
Accessories: Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Pinwheel Sizlit, Banners Framelits, Silver Brad, Square Punch

*Spring Catalogue

What did I use the square punch for you ask? Well, here's a little tip to make banners out of your paper that have nice even ends.

Step 1: Take you piece of paper you would like to make into a banner to insert it diagonally into your square punch (I am using the old style here but the new ones works the same way) so it looks like this...
 Step 2: Punch!

And there you have it a nice banner end the looks like this...

Voila! Hope you enjoyed my very first Masculine Monday!

If you have any Masculine Monday project ideas for me, or would like to share your projects with a bit of "masculinity" to them, please do so! I would love to see them!
