Sympathy CASE

I hope everyone had a great Easter. We sure did. Lots of visiting, lots of food, lots of eggs! Today I have a simple CASE to share with you. I got this idea for this card from Mary Fish over at Stampin' Pretty. She has an absolutely wonderful blog that is full of great ideas, I highly encourage you to go and check her out!

Sympathy

I posted this a few days ago and just realized now after looking at my blog it's not there. Hmm. I don't know, technology confuses me sometimes. So here we go again ...


Sympathy cards are another one I struggle with along with masculine cards. I don't particularly enjoy making them (I mean who really does), but it's a reality that you need them every now and then. A few days ago my grandfather asked me to make one for him for a friend of the family, and this is what I came up with ...

 

Stampin' Supplies:

Stamps: Fabulous Florets, Petite Pairs
Ink: Soft Suede, Versa Mark

Paper: Soft Suede, Very Vanilla

Accessories: Gold Embossing Powder, Heat Gun, Victoria Crochet Trim, Tulip Frame Embossing Folder

 

For the stem to get the look of the darker and lighter I first stamped the middle stem in soft suede, I then reinked the stamp and stamped off on scrap paper twice before stamping the second stem and then repeated with the third stem.

 

The new ink pads are so nice for vibrant solid colour. If you do want a lighter more pastel look though you just have to stamp off once or twice on scrap paper first. The Stampin' Up! gird paper is awesome for this and even has lines and measurements on it too!

Sympathy

For a change today's card doesn't use anything new from sale-a-bration or the spring catalogue. My grandpa called me the other morning and asked me if I had a sympathy card for him. A friend of his had passed away and he wanted to send one to his wife.

Sympathy cards aren't my most favourite thing to make (I doubt they are anybody's favourite) but as a reality of life, we need them every now and again (hopefully not too often).

I even busted out my heat gun for today's card. I haven't used it in awhile but it made me realize I miss it so I may have to start using it more often, also Stampin' Up! has a new pool party embossing powder that looks really nice! A bonus of the heat gun, on a freezing winter morning like today it really warms up those fingers.

To get the different look on the stems I stamped the one in the middle and then I stamped off on scrap paper once and stamped back on the side again. I re-inked the stamp and stamped off twice before doing the stem on the other side. It shows how versatile the ink can be. It can be really vibrant if you want it to be or subtle if you would rather that look.
